About Buying Polo
Shirts:
Polo shirts (a.k.a.
golf shirts, sport shirts, or staff shirts) come in dozens of styles and
combinations. Your first choice is whether you want a 100% Cotton
Shirt or a Poly-Cotton blend. You may choose a cotton shirt
for its softer feel and cool breathability. Almost all styles of
polos are available in 100% Cotton. Cotton offers the greatest
variety of colors and designs. On the other hand 50/50
or blended polos offer less
shrinkage over the life of the garment and a greater resistance to
stains. Newer performance blends can offer
additional moisture wicking capabilities.
Your second choice when buying a polo is
the knit of the fabric. Pique (pronounced
pih kay) polos have have a
slight texture to the knit. If you
look closely you can see the mesh design of pique fabric. Jersey
and interlock
( Smooth) knit polos are made with a smooth fabric. Both styles
are quite popular. Other knits include herringbones,
honeycombs, needle out, nailheads,
and houndstooth.
